Lane's Spring Program - Noah's Ark Preschool

Mr. Lane had his spring music program at Noah's Ark the day after my birthday.  He had been singing his two performance songs, "He is the King" and "The Bear Went Over the Mountain" at home for weeks before.  We had a sneaking suspicion that he wouldn't participate on the day of the program, so Kyle promised Lane that if he sang the songs and did the hand motions that he would buy Lane a spy kit.  (Lane's request.)

Sure enough, performance day came, Kyle took off work in the morning to be there, we had our camera and video cam ready, and our little brat son wouldn't even stand up!!!!  To make things worse, he had this annoyed look on his face the entire time.  FAIL!  It's safe to say that theater and choir won't be in his future...

I stayed to volunteer at the school carnival after the program.  Lane was in much better spirits by then and enjoyed himself while he played games and won prizes.

His class then went to ride the train outside.

I hid inside so he wouldn't see me and snapped a few pics of him.  He was crying because he had to leave me.  Poor guy gets so worked up and can't even enjoy himself sometimes!

By the end I saw him smiling, and I snuck away before coming back that afternoon to pick him up.

When we got home that afternoon he kept saying he was sorry he didn't sing and that he "just got a little nervous."  He was more than willing to sing for me on our front porch.  Here's a video of the song he SHOULD have sang at school that day!  It's pretty stinking cute!

Our little dancing machine!

And even though he didn't perform, he looked pretty cute in his big boy clothes!

On the bright side---at least we didn't have to fork over any cash for a spy kit!  Hope Santa Claus pulls through on that one!  ;-)

The Big 3-0

I turned the big 3-0 on April 23.  I video taped Lane singing to me last year and then again this year.  It's amazing how much he's grown and how well he speaks now!  He was a great talker then, but can articulate so well now!

Last Year--Age 2 years 1 1/2 months:

This Year--Age 3 years 1/12 months:

So, so cute!

I was still in Mansfield that morning, so we had a quick visit with Evin and Kori before we left to drive back to Austin.  Aren't these two adorable?!

That night, after we got back in town, we went out to dinner to celebrate.  I chose one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants, Lupe Tortilla.  Here's a (bad) family picture, but it at least documents the moment!

Me and my boy--sporting the most awkward smile of his life!  Haha!

We took some much better pictures once we got home from dinner!  This is the smile I know and love!

And then, it was time for presents!  Kyle booked me a full body massage for the next day, and Lane picked out his own presents, as usual.  I was thrilled to receive..........

A first aid kit and a purple hanging flower pot!  Haha!

He was pretty darn proud of these presents.  He told Kyle he needed to get me my own doctor's kit, so that when he played doctor I would have one too.  Thoughtful, huh?  Gotta love his practicality!  He was set on getting me some PURPLE flowers, and he saw these as they were walking into the store to get the first aid kit.  Purple flowers- check!

He even asked the ladies that were working "Where are your doctor's kits?"

At the end of the night, Kori posted this picture on Facebook.  So cute!

And because Scouty hasn't had much screen time on the blog lately, here she is all relaxed in our new bedding that night.

It was a happy, happy birthday!

Can't Get Enough of Her!

I went back to Mansfield the weekend before my birthday to help out some more with Evin and to see Paw, who was coming in town to meet Evin for the first time.  He isn't really up to much traveling anymore, but was so sweet to come to meet Lane after he was born, and gladly came with Kathy to see Evin after she got home too!

Paw and "Dusty"
**When I was pregnant with Lane, Paw predicted that he would be a boy, and decided we should name him Dustin Blake.  He has always correctly predicted the sex of all of his great-grandchildren and then come up with a first and middle name he likes for them!  When the sonographers thought Evin was a boy at first, Paw said "Well, they are wrong."  AND, he was right!!  His name for Evin was Lisa Lynn, but now he lovingly refers to her as "Tuffie."

Hugs for Paw after he handed Lane some cash!

We went to Kori and Mitch's that night and ate BBQ.  I was glad to feed and burp Evin again.  :)

And Lane happily held Evin for a little while!

Paw and Kathy left on Sunday, and I spent the day at Kori's on Monday.  As I was getting Evin dressed she was so happy and smiley!  See?!

All dressed up and looking CUTE!

I ended up staying until Tuesday, which happened to be my birthday.  Next up...my 30th birthday post!

She's Home!

On Saturday, April 13, Evin Kate was discharged from Cook Children's Hospital and finally got to come home!  I drove to Mansfield the next day to stay and help out a little bit since Mitch had to go back to work and Kori would be spending her first few days at home all by herself with Evin.  It was so good to see her in her own clothes, no tubes or wires, in her own swing and bouncy seat!

Lane hadn't seen Evin since the day after she was born, and wore his Big Cousin shirt I made to see his baby cousin!  He wasn't quite ready to hold her that night, but did like rubbing her head and kissing her!

The next morning I went with Kori to Evin's doctor appointment with her pediatrician.  I forgot what an ordeal it is to get a newborn ready and out of the house!

4/15/13

Her doctor was pleased with how she looked and was happy that she had gained a little bit of weight.  That was Evin's main hurdle--eating well and gaining weight.  Heart babies burn lots of calories while they eat because they struggle a little bit with breathing and eating at the same time, so sometimes it is really hard for them to gain weight.

After we got home, I let Kori go take a much needed nap while I watched Evin.  She looked so cute in her outfit that I decided to have a little mini photoshoot!

We sat like this on the couch for a long, long time!  I love little tiny babies!

Kori's OBGYN gave Evin this little onesie, so we dressed her up for a picture to send to Dr. Westerholm.

Lane came back over that night (thank you, Gran for watching him during the day!) and was excited to see Evin!  He was very loving and would randomly go over and talk to her, rub her head, hold her hand, and swing her swing a little bit.

We are so, so glad to have this little miracle home!
