Fun at the Fire Station

We headed to Mansfield for Memorial Day Weekend.  There was a lot going on there that weekend and the following week...my mom's birthday, our friend's baby was due any day, and we were throwing Mom a retirement party.  That Saturday, Kyle and I took Lane to visit Reed Churman at his fire station in Duncanville.  We knew Lane would love it!

Lane was a little slow to warm up to the big trucks, but once he did he was super excited!  Reed showed him some of the tools and explained what each part of the truck did.

He loved pushing the "buttons."

He finally decided to climb on in after a minute or two of being "too scared."

And he LOVED it!!

Within seconds of being in that seat, a loud beeping began on the intercoms and a dispatcher alerted that there was a structure fire to get to.  This was Lane's face while the beeping was happening!  Haha!

So, down he hopped and our field trip was cut short.  :-(
We rushed back out front to watch the truck drive away.

Lane talked all day about his trip to the fire station and kept saying, "The firemen had to go to a construction fire (structure fire)."  We will have to go back again for a longer visit soon!

Lane's Last Day of School

Lane had his last day of school at Noah's Ark Preschool on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.  You can read all about his first day of school here.  He started the year at Butterfly Christian preschool, but switched to Noah's Ark in February.  Kyle and I were so, so happy with the switch.  We just loved his teachers Ms. Amy and Ms. Cindy, and were impressed with all of the fun things the school did for the kids.  He will be going there for summer camp the month of June and then will start back up for the full 2013-2014 school year in September!

On the last day, the whole preschool celebrated Splash Day.  I volunteered to help out, so I was able to get some cute pictures of Lane and his classmates.  He loved playing with the boats in the water tubs!

Ms. Cindy helping him out.

Starting to line up all the boats for a "boat race."  A bit OCD, I believe!  Or maybe just G/T?

"Check out all these boats, Mom!"

There was a swimming pool full of shaving cream, and Lane made a beard!

The cutest part was the "kid car wash!"  Lane loved running through it!

Eating a popsicle with his classmates.

Fake/Awkward smile phase!

Lane's little 2 year old class.  A few kids were absent that day, I think.
L to R:  Ms. Amy, Finn, Avery, Stone, Elizabeth, Vivian, Quinn, Lane, Devon, Taylor, Ms. Cindy.
Missing were:  Christian and Maddie.

I ran to pick up the pizzas for the school while the teachers got the kids dried off and changed into their clothes.  Then, it was party time!

After pizza, his teachers had an ice cream sundae bar!

Lane opted for plain vanilla with a side of M&M's.  He said to his teachers "I don't really like sprinklers."  (Sprinkles...)

My cute boy with his teachers.  Amy on the left and Cindy on the right.  They commented on his sweet smile, bright eyes and lashes, and his outstanding vocabulary.  They said he loved to tell them stories and had a great memory.  He has grown so much this year!

Here are Lane's last day of school pictures I took on our porch.   He has hardly any "baby" left in his face!  A lot of the funny poses were ALL on his own.  I guess he was feeling like a model that day!

And here is the side by side of his first and last day of school.  When I showed this to Kyle he didn't believe that the picture on the left was from this school year!!

Lane Austen, this year you have gone from a baby to a boy.  You are smart as smart can be, hilarious and witty, can be such a sweetheart, and you are the absolute most handsome little boy I've ever seen.  You are pretty close to perfect to us!  (Let's just get past some of your terrible three's tendencies!)  :)

Road Trip

Lane and I took a trip to Brady and San Angelo in mid-May.  Kathy had been wanting us to come to San Angelo on a Monday when she keeps Marley so that Lane could join in on the fun they have!  We stopped off in Brady on the way there and spent the afternoon before heading to San Angelo.  Mom, Kori and Evin were in Brady too, so we got to see them for a short time!

Paw and "Tuffie"

Lane was such a stinker while we were at Paw's.  He hadn't had a nap and was wild and somewhat grouchy.  This was the best picture we could get of Paw with the kids.

Reading a book with Mums

Coloring with Paw

Sweet Lil' E!

Even though he was being a toot, he was still very sweet to Evin.  He loves that baby girl!

She is so beautiful!

While I had my camera out I snapped a few secret pics of Paw while he was watching TV.  :)

Paw has never removed his wedding ring since he was married on March 11, 1947.   66 years!  Even though my Mammaw has been gone for quite some time, he continues to wear it.  Part of the reason is it won't come off!  It has permanently indented his finger and will stay on him forever.  So sweet!

That evening Lane and I left Brady and headed to San Angelo.  I had a photo shoot with Tiffany's sister's family that night, and Lane enjoyed playing with Mason and Marley at Kathy's while I was gone.

We had a big day planned for Monday!  First, we went to Tiffany's parent's house to see their twin baby goats.  Lane wasn't too impressed by them, but eventually warmed up and chased and pet them. They were so cute!

The goats were bottle fed, and Tiffany's mom had saved a little bit of milk for the kids to feed them.  Of course, Lane didn't want to!  Typical!

The kids had fun riding the Jeeps and playing in the yard before we left!

Kambry, Marley, and Lane all squeezed into one Jeep!

We then headed to the park to see if we could feed the chipmunks.  Kathy had been taking Marley every Monday and said tons of them would come right up to them and eat bits of bread nearly right out of their hands!  We saw a few while we were there, but not many were out and they weren't coming near.  They were cute, though!

The kids played on the playground a little and worked up an appetite!

Our last stop of the day was Mr. Gatti's for lunch.  The kids ate some pizza and had fun playing the games and getting tickets and prizes.

It was a FUN day!  Both sweeties were worn out and fell right asleep on the way home.

After naps, we headed over to Tiffany and Ryan's house to eat fajitas and celebrate Kathy's birthday.  We stayed one more night at Kathy's and headed back to Austin the next morning.  It was a fun trip!
