An Angelic Performance

Lane's preschool put on a Christmas program on Sunday, December 8, 2013.  It was during their church service and all of the 3 and 4 year olds performed.  Lane's class dressed up as angels, and judging from the last few school programs he has been in, this costume was a questionable one!  He surprised us all and actually smiled, sang, stood up, and did (mostly) as he should!  He did get a little silly with his buddy behind him, and kept turning around laughing, but it was a great improvement from  last year when he just sat on the stair and refused to sing or smile.  He looked pretty cute in his wings and halo!

They sang about 8 songs total.  Lane's favorites to sing were "Away in a Manger,"  "Oh Come Let us Adore Him," "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," and "Do You Know Why?'

He kept putting his hands in his pockets!

Forgot the hand movement memo!

This was the weekend of the huge ice storm that hit DFW.  Mums had already planned to come for a long weekend so she could see the performance, so she went ahead and came Thursday night.  It's a good thing, because DFW was hit hard with 3-4 inches of ice and pretty much the whole area shut down.  Austin had no ice, just cold weather, so once she was in town she was safe!  Poor Gran ended up being stuck in Arlington and wasn't able to come.  We missed her!

The temps in Austin were really low, so we did minimal shopping and running around.  We cooked at home a few nights and went out to eat once or twice.  Lane bundled up in his bear slippers and hat and decided to scare Mums one morning.

We spent a lot of time in our jammies and Lane enjoyed getting out his interactive Christmas ornaments and books that Gran has given us from Hallmark in the past years.

We also read lots of books.

Scout stayed close to the fire most of the weekend and guarded her bone from Finley.  She will seriously lay with her bone like this for hours!

Lane joined her while watching cartoons.

The ice in DFW finally began to melt and Mums made it home safe and sound on Monday.  We had a fun weekend!

Lane's Spring Program - Noah's Ark Preschool

Mr. Lane had his spring music program at Noah's Ark the day after my birthday.  He had been singing his two performance songs, "He is the King" and "The Bear Went Over the Mountain" at home for weeks before.  We had a sneaking suspicion that he wouldn't participate on the day of the program, so Kyle promised Lane that if he sang the songs and did the hand motions that he would buy Lane a spy kit.  (Lane's request.)

Sure enough, performance day came, Kyle took off work in the morning to be there, we had our camera and video cam ready, and our little brat son wouldn't even stand up!!!!  To make things worse, he had this annoyed look on his face the entire time.  FAIL!  It's safe to say that theater and choir won't be in his future...

I stayed to volunteer at the school carnival after the program.  Lane was in much better spirits by then and enjoyed himself while he played games and won prizes.

His class then went to ride the train outside.

I hid inside so he wouldn't see me and snapped a few pics of him.  He was crying because he had to leave me.  Poor guy gets so worked up and can't even enjoy himself sometimes!

By the end I saw him smiling, and I snuck away before coming back that afternoon to pick him up.

When we got home that afternoon he kept saying he was sorry he didn't sing and that he "just got a little nervous."  He was more than willing to sing for me on our front porch.  Here's a video of the song he SHOULD have sang at school that day!  It's pretty stinking cute!

Our little dancing machine!

And even though he didn't perform, he looked pretty cute in his big boy clothes!

On the bright side---at least we didn't have to fork over any cash for a spy kit!  Hope Santa Claus pulls through on that one!  ;-)

Picture Day

Lane's preschool had picture day way back at the end of October.  It took a while to get the images back to view, so I am just now getting the copies!  Even though it was a couple short months ago, I can already tell he has grown and his face looks so young here!  I was really happy with how they turned out.  I have pictures I have taken of him that are competitive to these in quality, but I was just so glad to see that he smiled for a complete stranger and really let his personality shine through!  The first one is my favorite.

And now...a walk down memory Lane.  I think anything would have been an improvement from last year's picture day fiasco!  haha!!  He has grown soooo much--physically and socially!

Yee Haw!

Last Tuesday was "Cowboy Day" at Lane's school.  I had bought him some cowboy boots in San Angelo over Thanksgiving that were going to be a Christmas gift, but we had to whip them out early!  He looked adorable!  I accidentally left my camera in Kyle's car, so I had to manage with my iphone--and I took a ton of pics.  :)

Started off a little sleepy!

Kori came to Austin for a night to do some shopping and hang out before she starts her sub jobs.  We had fun shopping and going to lunch, and she was able to go with me to drop off and pick up Lane that day.

That afternoon I was doing some things in the living room and heard Lane calmly say "help, mommy." I looked over and he was balancing in this position!  The chair had tipped back and LUCKILY hit and stopped against the wall behind it.  Never a dull moment with this cowpoke!
